En Busca de América is a multicultural radio
show that aims to inform from Chicago to the USA Internet community about
Latin America, its traditions and culture.
Each show will highlight the
most significant aspects of each country in the following areas: music, art,
literature, language (idioms), culture, etc.
The program will feature
three special segments:
Language and slang:
This segment will feature
words that are used in different countries and are sometimes confusing
because of their meaning (examples: guagua, boludo, alapuchis, neta, chucha,
etc).
Traditional dishes:
This segment will feature
traditional dishes from the countries that will define the theme of each
program. A guest that specializes in the cuisine of the country highlighted
in each program will be invited to the show.
Traveling in America:
This segment will feature
the main tourist attractions of the highlighted countries.
Special guests, writers,
cultural workers, and artists will be invited to speak about their country
of origin. Based on their knowledge and expertise, the presenters will
define the course of the 2-hour program. Special guests will not be required
to have a specific academic background. However, in order to participate,
they must be very knowledgeable about their countries.
En Busca de América
is dedicated to the promotion of the diverse components of Latin American
culture that interact in the United States. The show was born in April,
2004, and was transmitted by Radio Arte 90.5 FM. With 9 shows aired, this
program had a wide-ranging audience and featured special guests that
transported the listener to their countries of origin.
Due to the growing number of
immigrants in the United States, there is now a new wave of more demanding
radio listeners. Roots are a fundamental part of every human being. “En
Busca de América” is interested in promoting our understanding of the rich
and diverse Latin American culture.
